Thank you, Johnny Midnight!

DZRJ mourns the death of legendary broadcaster Johnny Midnight who was with the station for over 20 years.

Johnny Midnight popularized “toning water” in the 1980s and was a broadcaster for half a century.

Born John William Xerez-Burgos Joseph, he was declared a hero by former President Ferdinand Marcos through a Presidential Humanitarian Award of the First Order for his efforts to help victims when the Ruby Tower in Binondo, Manila collapsed following an earthquake in 1968.

The veteran announcer died due to prostate cancer at age 73.
